Los autores describen un caso de fibroxantoma pulmonar, tumor benigno de escasa incidencia. Su evolución, como nodulo pulmonar solitario asintomático e indiagnosticado, conocido desde hacia siete años, fue favorable hasta que tras un embarazo reciente creció rápidamente convirtiéndose en una masa, en situación apical del lóbulo inferior derecho, con fuerte expresión clínica: tos, hemoptisis, osteoartropatía hipertrófica pulmonar. Tras la resección, la paciente está asintomática. Se comentan los detalles clínicos, anatomopatológicos y pronósticos de este raro tumor, en el contexto de la literatura revisada.
Pulmonary fibroxanthoma is an infrequently seen benign tumor. In the case described below, it developed as a non-diagnosed, solitary pulmonary nodule which remained symptom free for seven years. Following child-birth it rapidly became a large mass at the apex of the right lower lobe with clinical symptoms which included cough, hemoptysis and hypertrophic pulmonary osteoarthropathy. Resection of the mass elicited a favourable response and the patient remains symptom free. The pertinent literature is reviewed and the clinical and anatomopathological features and prognosis for this rare tumor discussed.
