Summary

As a summary of their work, the authors have written a series of conclusions:

  • 1.

The volumes should be inscribed in the axis (X) and the flows in the axis (Y).

  • 2.

The constant of time of the System will not be used.

  • 3.

Amplifications beyond position 2 are to be avoided as well as errors in measurement.

  • 4.

A mínimum of three similar tracings will be made, from which the máximum valúes will be taken.

  • 5.

The flow is a good parameter to see the reversibility of the bronchial obstruction. It has advantages, in some aspects, over the FEV1, FEV1% and Raw.

  • 6.

Taking into account the reproductibility of the flows, to give a positive take of the bronchodilator effect, a 25 to a 30% or more improvement will be required.

  • 7.

Among the instantaneous flows oí the curve MEFV, the authors feel it opportune to use V50 as Índex of bronchodilatation, as the flows at lower pulmonary volumes have greater errors with respect to measurement, and greater variability with resoect to reoroductibility.

  • 8.

The morphology of the curve MEFV will give some explanatory data on the bronchodilatation produced.

  • 9.

The inscription of the curve MEFV to VT is also useful.
