Summary

In a group of 98 patients carriers of pleural effusion, the authors studied the levels of α1-antitrypsin and α1-glycoprotein acid in said liquid.

After classifying the effüsions into four groups (cardiac insufficiency, empyema, tuberculous and neoplasic), the authors evaluated the results obtainde in each of the groups statistically.

Finally the authors conclude that the statistical significance of these two parameters is scarce as well as that their protagonism in etiological diagnosis of the process is slight.
