The authors describe the complications of thoracocentesis and pleural biopsy with needle concluding with the goodness and usefulness of both techniques. Pneumothorax, hemothorax and bacterial contamination and functional alterations in addition to the principal complications are described, with others of lesser entity being of lower frequency.
