Summary

The authors have studied the DLCOSB in 83 miners with simple pneumoconiosis and in 46 miners without radiological pneumoconiosis, none of whom presented obstruction of the airways (Tiffeneau normal). The first group had DLCOSB valúes significantly lower than the control group, although the differences were small. The second groups also had valúes slightly lower but the differences were not significant.

In the group with simple pneumononiosis a weak (r: 0,23) but significant (p 0,05) correlation was found between DLCOSB and C.V. % normal. On the other hand there was no correlation between DLCOSB and profusión of type of nodulation.
