Summary

The authors compare flexible with classical bronchoflbroscopy, indicating their advantages as well as their indications, counterindications and complications of the exploration and anesthetic technique. They emphasize its importance in three of the fields where it is less used: the extraction of foreign bodies, the aspiration of mucous plugs and transbroncial pulmonary biopsy. All the observations are based on personal experience of the authors in 470 cases and on published literature.
