Summary

Detailed cytological study of pulmonary pathology which allowe a precise diagnosis to be established, is a diagnostic procedure that should be available to all clinicians; instead of the one based only on Papanicolaou classification which dismisses the remaining pathology. An overview of the morphology together with the images found in cytology and based on more than 27.000 smears, is included. In conclusión cióse cooperadon between cytologist and clinician and properly trained personnel are essential if good results are to be obtained.
