Se ha aplicado la frecuencia-dependencia (22, 48 y 60 resp/min) de los valores de la resistencia de la vía aérea y unos índices deducidos de ella (RI/R0,5, RI/RE y RI/RT) al estudio de sujetos normales y afectos de diversa patología obstructiva respiratoria (EVAS, asma y EPOC). Nuestros resultados indican que estos tres índices en los EVAS presentan unos valores numéricos estadísticamente diferenciadores del resto de los pacientes obstructivos estudiados. Tanto el índice RI/R0,5 (> 2,5) como el RI/RE (≅ 1) son superiores en los EVAS a los de los pacientes con EPOC y asma bronquial. El índice RI/RT, superior a 1 en este último grupo, como ocurre en los EVAS, sugiere que la glotis y la tráquea extratorácica juegan un papel fisiopatológico importante en algunos pacientes asmáticos.

The frequency dependence (22, 48 and 60 resp/min) of airways resistance values and indexes taken from the frequency (RI/R0,5, RI/RE and RI/RT) were applied to a study including patients with a variety of obstructive respiratory disorders (stenosis of the upper airways, asthma, epoc) and a group of healthy individuals. Results indicate statistically significant differences in the three parameters for patients with stenosis of the upper airways from those with other forms of obstructive disorders. Both RI/R0,5 (> 2,5) and RI/RE (≅ 1) were higher in patients with stenosis than in those with epoc or asthma. The RI/RT, which was > 1 in the latter group, as it was the patients with stenosis, suggest that both glottis and extrathoracic trachus play an important role in the pathology of some asthmatic patients.
